Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek became a joint base when Naval Air Base Little Creek and Army base Fort Story were merged in October of 2009 as part of the Base Realignment and Base Closure Initiative. Little Creek is the largest base in the world of its kind and a major operating hub for amphibious forces in the Atlantic. Both bases were involved in amphibious maneuvers and extensive training, and merging them allows two of the finest bases to serve together to support the military warfighters. The joint base is located near Norfolk, Virginia.

Military personnel who wish to live on base must apply through the housing office at NS Norfolk. Applicants will be place on the appropriate wait list based on number of bedrooms desired and rank. Call the office at 757-462-8939/7069.
